Frankenstein's Poetic Progeny
As part of this year’s Being Human festival, we were celebrating the 200th anniversary year of the publication of Frankenstein with readings of new poems ruminating on Frankenstein, technology and identity, and Mary Shelly’s own early association with Dundee.
What is a wyvern?
A wyvern is a legendary creature with a dragon's head and wings, a reptilian body, two legs, and a tail often ending in a diamond or arrow shaped tip. (pronunciation)

Wyverns are associated with Dundee, appearing on the city coat of arms, and in a number of artworks in town. Perhaps the most notable is the 'dragon' (actually a wyvern) in Murraygate sculpted by Tony Morrow, drawing on local legend and a carving found on an ancient Pictish stone.
